Troop 106 is a scout led troop with a strong backup of trained adult leaders. While not always graceful, we try to adhere to the scouting ideal. We have at least one weekend activity each month. Our activities are a mix between local camping and hiking in the area. We attend Yawgoog summer camp in August of each year and go to high adventure camps every other year. The Troop 106 Handbook outlines important information for all scouts and parents.

New Scouts
New scouts are welcome to our troop at any time. When you join, you will find other boys like you who want to make new friends, have adventures and have a good time. Scouts range in age from 10 to 17. We have a weekly meeting in the Cafeteria or Gym of the Signal Hill School, during the weekly meeting we do things that are useful and fun. We do things such as learning about camping, survial in the wilderness, how to stay warm in freezing weather & rescue techniques. We have fun by playing games and sports in our own gymnasium. Every month we spend a weekend together as a troop and go do something fun such as camping, hiking, canoeing, climbing, shooting and and lots of other activities. Since we are a scout led troop, the other scouts will train you in camping and hiking skills, Eventually when you take the lead of the troop you will pass on your skils to the younger scouts.
  • We welcome new members to our troop at any time of the year.
  • In order to become a scout you must be a boy who has completed the fifth grade and be at least 10 years old.
  • Participation in Cub Scouting is not a requirement for Boy Scouts.
Parents & Adult Leaders
Our troop has the privilege to be the home of many dedicated adult leaders who donate their time to make the troop successful. Parents are always welcome at any of our events. Parents who wish to participate in a more significant way are greatly appreciated. We have many openings for all levels of participation from being a driver to troop committee member, fundraiser or uniformed adult leader. Yearly dues are $75 for an individual scout and are waived for the first year. The Troop Committee will help anybody in any financial need situations, so discuss it with our scoutmaster. Come down to the weekly meetings and talk about the opportunities with our Scoutmaster or other adult leaders.
